20 August, KATHMANDU: Many of the political parties in Nepal are now busy for preparing their election manifestos to lure people to vote them in upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election scheduled for November 19.

The election manifesto is considered as the effective means of convincing people of their agendas.

Although 33-political parties alliance led by CPN-Maoist led by Mohan Vaiddya are yet to be wooed for election, the major political parties are learnt to have already constituted their task force under the convenorship of party’s top leaders and expedited the task of formulating the manifesto. Similarly, some small parties have started preparing their election manifestos.

Election manifesto generally reflects party’s views about the form of governance, the form of federalism, the economic policy, foreign policy and ways of social transformation.

With major political changes in the country, the Nepali people realised that the CA election was essential to draft their constitution.

Although the first CA was dead without giving the Nepali people a new constitution, the Nepalis again decided to go for the second CA election to materialise their dream of promulgating a new constitution through the CA. People are frustrated by political parties  but curious about the nature of manifestos that political parties are going to bring out.

The tenure of first CA ended as the political parties failed to forge a consensus on the matters relating to form of governance, restructuring of the sate and judiciary. But this time, the political parties are expected to make their views clear about these issues in election manifestos and go to the people for votes.
