Khotang, Nov. 14: The polling officer of a polling centre in Khotang has lost all the voter identity card and voters’ list that was under his responsibility.
Polling officer Dhan Bahadur Shrestha lost all the voter ID cards and voters’ list sent with him for the Kalika Lower Secondary School in Bahunidanda VDC of the district.
Polling officer Shrestha and assistant officer Hari Prasad Acharya had received the ID cards and the voters’ list from the District Election Office, Khotang on Tuesday, according to the Office.
Following the incident, both Shrestha and Acharya have been removed from duty and replaced by another staff, said Chief Returning Officer Iswari Prasad Gautam.
Accordingly, technical assistant at the Agriculture Development Office Thul Kumar Shah has been appointed the new polling officer and Dip Kumar Shrestha the assistant polling officer.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has been notified of the incident and a request has been made for another set of ID cards and voters’ list, Gautam said. RSS
