The poverty in Nepal has been reduced by 2.49 per cent since the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) launched its Programme in 55 districts, claimed the PAF.

Speaking at a programme organized by the Reporter’s Club, Dang on Saturday, PAF Executive Director Nahakul KC said that this government funded programme positively impacted as many as 770,000 impoverished households.

KC further shared that preparations were underway to expand the programme across all the districts in the country, forging partnership with various 400 development partners and related stakeholders to reduce the extreme form of poverty.

The Fund has allocated Rs 30.6 million budget for the poverty reduction programme for the current fiscal year, according to him.

Underscoring the establishment of the big industries and factories in the country to alleviate poverty for the long run, KC argued, “Poverty could not be alleviated with the handful of capital.”

“The PAF also funds the development projects and looks forward to contributing towards it in the future too,” he pledged. RSS
