Delhi, Feb 25:  Making a decision for the effective supply of public goods, the  Delhi government on Wednesday reduced  power tariff by 50 per cent for consumption up to 400 units per month. With today’s decision, around 90 per cent of the Delhiites in the city are likely to be benefitted.

A meeting presided over by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took the decision to this effect.

From Sunday,the decision will be enforced.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also announced that government will also provide 20,000 litres of free water to every household per month.

However,  he made it clear that  if consumption limit exceeds 20,000 litres, water tariff will be charged.  Saying that the free water scheme will come into force from March 1,  Sisodia added that  consumers getting free water will not require to pay for sewer charges.

Regarding the free power scheme, the minister informed that reviewing of  the power rates will be take place  after CAG completes audit of the accounts of the power discoms. Living to its promise of reducing power tariff by 50 per cent immediately after coming to power as stated in its manifesto, the AAP is once again in the line of renewing its support from voters.

Likewise,  AAP had also promised 20 kilolitres (20,000 litres) of free water to every household per month.  Although the  previous AAP government had introduced the free water scheme,  it was discontinued after Kejriwal resigned from his post. ( With Inputs From The Hindu)
