Kathmandu: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has sought clarification from Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, who also chairs the Constitutional Council, for nominating the retired election commissioners for their reappointment in the Election Commission of Nepal.
On the recommendation of the High Level Political Committee, the Constitutional Council had asked the President to reappoint former Chief Commissioner Neelkantha Uprety, and former commissioners Dolakh Bahadur Gurung and Ayodhi Prasad Yadav in the Election Commission.
The Article 128 (7) of the Interim Constitution does not let the appointment of former commissioners.
Regmi is preparing to forge the clarification to the Office of the President today itself, a source said.
