24 July, Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said the Passport Department should provide internationally quality service by embracing modern technology.

During a programme organized by the Passport Department here Sunday, DPM Mahara said adequate knowledge of information technology was imperative to materialize government’s plan to issue e-passport.

According to him, Department’s getting ISO certificate is a matter of pride, for it’s the first government body to acquire this certificate. It was achieved because of employees’ hard work, competence and awareness of quality.

He directed the Department employees to continue works to achieve lofty goals. The DPM also expressed commitment that the Foreign Ministry would provide opportunity to whet skills and professional competence of the employee for this.

On the occasion, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi said the Passport Department got the ISO certificate because of its professionalism, transparency, and effectiveness.

“It’s an inspiring achievement for the government bodies,” he argued, adding that with this achievement, the Department has been shouldered with additional responsibilities. RSS
