Chairman of the CPN (Maoist-Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said his party was bound to quit the present government after sensing that a plot against the party was hatched by inciting NGOs rather than taking the peace process to a logical end.
Talking to media persons at his residence Lazimpat on Friday, Chairman Dahal categorically said that conspiracy was strategically launched against his party leaders and cadres in various districts including Okhaldhunga and Gorkha. He argued that such conspiracy was led by the NGOs supported by the CPN-UML.
“The government showed such behaviour that would frustrate the nine-point agreement reached between the CPN (MC) and the UML before the formation of the present government. The agreement was made to conclude the peace process. After the party cadres and leaders were in a condition of immediate arrests, we were compelled to take the decision of quitting this government,” he reiterated.
He further said the KP Oli-led government did not consult the CPN (MC) while taking decision to recall Ambassador to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyay. Thus the government was acting in a unilateral way which made the party think very seriously. It egregiously bypassed the ruling partner CPN (MC) in such big decision, which was inexcusable.
However, he said his party was not for distancing the UML because all political parties’ agreement is essential on any national agenda.
Madhesi parties will join consensus politics
Meanwhile, Chairman Dahal said the some Madhesi political parties, and indigenous and Tharu community dissatisfied with new constitution would join the consensus politics. “The agreement between the Nepali Congress and CPN (MC) has aimed at bringing all sides on board,” he argued.
He also expressed concern over the decisions of this government which is already morally in crisis. He expressed reservation on the government’s decisions of long term implication.
Leader Dahal who is taken as the candidate of a new prime minister said completion of the remaining task of peace process and enforcement of the constitution would be priorities of a new government.
He expressed his hope that a new government would be able to hold local, provincial and central elections.
He pledged to clear off unease atmosphere surfaced in the post earthquake-reconstruction efforts and expedite the development endeavours by uniting the people together.
No hollow nationalism
CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Dahal claimed that his leadership in the government would be acceptable for both China and India. “Our party has an equal role in signing different important agreements with China. We want to establish balanced relations with both neighbours,” he added.
Chairman Dahal said that talks were underway with different government coalition parties. He said that he has been making plan to moving ahead bringing all parties together and claimed that the CPN (UML) would also come under his leadership one day.
Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Prem Bahadur Singh, and Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhukar Forum (Democratic) had met with Chairman Dahal on Friday itself.
Chairman Dahal said that discussion on no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister would be held on July 21 and it would reach the conclusion. He said the statement expressed by the Prime Minister was non-political.
“I urge KP Sharma Oli to look after the history as he could be elected as PM or not if there was no support from the Maoist,” he said.
Chairman Dahal also suggested the UML to study the provisions of Legislature-Parliament Operation Regulation. RSS
