khil raj regmiKathmandu: A meeting between Chairman of Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi and leaders of agitating eleven student unions ended positively on Friday.

During the meeting, the student unions—Nepal Students Union (NSU), All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANN FSU ), among others– submitted an 11-point memorandum to Regmi.

It has been reported that Regmi assured to direct the Education Minister to hold Free Students Union ( FSU ) election at the earliest.

The meeting was held for an hour, student unions spokesperson Yukti Lamichhane said.

According to him, Regmi has also assured to address other demands following meetings with the concerned authorities.

The students have been agitating against the high level political mechanism’s proposal of nominating an ´anti-democratic´ person as the Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), a constitutional body, demanding to hold the election of FSU and to roll back the recent price hike in the public vehicles.
