30 Oct, Nawalparasi: Rhino Conservation Gold Cup football tournament, boasting of the highest prize money outside Kathmandu valley, began here today.

In the inaugural match, Kaski-11 defeated Lumbini by 3-0. In the match tomorrow, Birgunj Youth Club will face Rupandehi-11.

A total of 12 teams are competing for the first prize money of Rs. 525,555 with the runner-up taking home Rs. 250,555. The final will take place on coming November 11. The tournament has been organised since the past 13 years at local Kolhuwa ground with the objective of promoting the conservation of Rhinos, according to the organising committee Chair Doman Bahadur Bhandari.
