25 Sept, Kathmandu: Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) has drawn the attention of the Election Commission (EC) towards the management of separate ballot papers in the elections of members to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies scheduled for late this year.

A delegation led by party presidium coordinator Mahantha Thakur called on the EC officials Sunday, seeking ‘correction’ of the EC decision to use the same ballot paper for the proportional representation system in both elections.

The use of same ballot paper in both polls was against the spirit of the election and this was not in practice in the international arena, the delegation apprised the EC officials.

Talking to RSS following the meeting, presidium member Raj Kishor Yadav said the delegation informed the EC about the ‘necessity’ of using separate ballot papers with different colour in the elections.

The EC has already decided to use the same ballot paper towards the PR category in both elections. The upper part is to for those political parties taking part in the House of Representatives Election and the lower part for the political parties confirmed to compete in the Sate Assemblies election.
