9 September, Kabul:

Officials say a roadside bomb has killed two Afghan soldiers and wounded a civilian near the capital, Kabul, as a suspected NATO drone strike has killed militants elsewhere in the country.

The roadside bombing happened today in Kabul province’s Kalakan district. Local official Rahmat Khan Faqirzada said the blast, likely from a remote-controlled bomb, also wounded a civilian.

Faqirzada says an investigation is underway to determine who planted the bomb. The Taliban later claimed responsibility for the blast in a text message to journalists.

Meanwhile in Kunar province, governor’s spokesman Muslim Abdul Ghani says a suspected NATO drone strike yesterday killed a militant commander and one of his fighters. NATO had no immediate comment on the strike. AP
