12 April, Kathmandu: The government has allocated Rs 15 million for free kidney transplant service.

Minister for Health, Gagan Kumar Thapa, on the World Kidney Day on March 9 had announced to provide free kidney transplant service from April 14. Talking to the RSS, Minister Thapa said, “The budget is allocated for the current fiscal year. Additional budget will be allocated if it is not sufficient for the same till the end of the current fiscal year.”

The government has already started providing free dialysis service to kidney patients.

Minister Thapa said that the government would allocate budget in health sector as per the criteria of the World Health Organisation and added that the government would not have to bear financial burden if the amount of Health Tax Fund is spent in health sector. RSS
