19 August, KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued a show cause notice to the Spice Nepal (Ncell) over charging 2 rupee 48 paisa by lending Rs 20 to the Ncell phone customers.

After hearing on a writ petition lodged by legal practitioner Mohan Sashankar, a single bench of Acting Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha ordered the Spice Nepal and Nepal Telecommunications Authority to be present with written clarification within 15 days.

Sashankar had lodged the writ petition on 15 August stating that the Ncell’s step to charge 2 rupee 48 paisa by lending Rs 20 to its service users if the customers request for a loan when their current balance is less than or equal to Rs 2 was illegal. RSS
