Noted Nepali singer Khemraj Gurung passed away Thursday. He was suffering from liver problems including jaundice and was under ICU treatment at Chabahil-based Medicare Hospital for the past 11 days, according to his nephew Ratna Gurung. He was 42.

Gurung had earned popularity in Nepali music with his song ‘Wari Jamuna Pari Jamuna, Jamunako Fedaima Manakamana’, a typical folk song sung in the eastern hills of Nepal.

His relatives are waiting for the arrival of his mother and sister from the UK to perform his last rites. Till then, his body is to be kept at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Jeevan, Jeevan-2, Anamol, Dharan-Pokhara, Soaltee, Alootama, Dhakre, Dhakre (folksongs) and Ghumfir are his famous albums of folk and folk-pop songs.
