All floodgates in the Gandak barrage here have been opened after the water level reached alarming point.

The floodgates were opened to pass the overflow towards India so that the risk in the barrage could be minimized.
Chief District Officer at Nawalparasi Mahadev Panta said all floodgates in the barrage were opened after the Narayani River also witnessed the alarming water level spreading panic.
The latest measure of the water level in the Narayani River showed the River was running as high as 9.41 meter, said CDO Panta, quoting the Water Measurement Centre of Devghat. The water level crossing 8.4 meter in the Narayani is taken as the alarming point.
All concerned agencies in the district have been mobilized to maintain high alert in the area. The people living in the vicinity are urged to move to safer places.
More than 13 VDCs including Kudiya, Pratapur, Guthi Prasauni in the southern belt of the district are at high risk of flooding.
The incessant rainfall for the past three days in the hilly districts has flooded the deepest river of the country. RSS
