9 Dec, Kathmandu: Speaker Onsari Gharti held talks with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Thursday in an attempt to clear the obstruction of the proceedings at the Parliament.

In the meeting held at the Speaker’s Office in Singha Durbar, Speaker Gharti urged leaders Deuba and Oli to forge political consensus to resume the business at the Parliament.

The UML, major opposition, has been obstructing parliamentary proceedings since the government registered the constitution amendment bill at the Legislature-Parliament on November 29.

Emerging from the meeting, NC President Deuba shared that the meeting dwelt on House obstruction and the means to forge consensus to forward the bill.

UML Chair Oli reiterated his party’s stance that the consensus would be garnered if the bill is revoked. RSS
