Minister for Youth and Sports Satyanarayan Mandal has said to depolitize sports sector was his priority.

Addressing a programme organised by Nepal Olympic Committee in his honour Wednesday, he argued sports sector would continue face problems until rampant political interference in it was put an end.

“Sports sector is the pride of the country,” he said pledging to give priority to concerns and needs of the bodies concerned while amending sports laws in line with the new constitution. There would be no budgetary constraint for the upcoming seventh National Sports Tournament, he added.

Olympic Committee Chair Jeevanram Sherstha sought autonomy to the Committee as per the International Olympic Committee charters.
He demanded maintenance of earthquake-damaged sports infrastructures .
