student's protest11 Sept- Kathmandu: Various students’ unions affiliated with main parties have announced series of protests against hike of prices of petroleum products. Meeting of the 14 different student’s unions along with Nepali Congress affiliated Nepal Students Union (NSU) and UCPN (Maoist) aligned All Nepal Independent Students Union-Revolutionary in Ratopul, Kathmandu on Wednesday evening decided to go with a week-long protests against hike.

 

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) had hiked the price of petroleum products on Tuesday 2nd time within this month.

According to the student leaders present in the meeting, they would stage protest demonstrations outside the colleges across the country on Thursday and Friday blocking the government vehicle on the road. They have also set to picket the NOC office from 9-11 on Friday morning while they would be shutting down petrol pumps across the country  for three days, on September 15, 16 and 17.

The meeting has warned of more protests if the government did not took back the decision of fuel prices hike.

Students affiliated to various political parties and organisations had staged demonstration in front of government colleges in the capital on Wednesday too, against NOC’s decision. NOC board meeting held late Tuesday evening had decided  to hike petroleum products.

After the latest hike petrol per liter has become 130 rupees and while diesel and kerosene costs 103 rupees per liter. And domestic airlines have to pay Rs 137  for per liter ATF.
