James Marsh’s “The Theory of Everthing is biographical movie about the Stephen hawking who is a famous theorist  and physicist of our time. It is a story about his love, life, friendship and his struggle with  health.

While he is  in his 20’s  still a graduate student he learns  that he has a motor neuron disease. The  doctor tells  him that he can survive only for two more years.  Amidst such circumstance,  he completes  his P.H.D. and ties nuptial knot with  his fellow graduate student Jane Wilde.

The screenplay of the movie is  by Anthony McCarten. Jane played by (felicity jones, falls in love with Stephen (Eddie Redmayne) in the early 1960’s, where he sets out for intellectual curiosity.  Out of the curiosity, probes  the origins of the universe and wants to locate the beginning of the time.

Director:James Marsh

Writers:Anthony McCarten (screenplay), Jane Hawking(book)

Stars: Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Tom Prior

Ratings: 8/10

Owing to his  illness, things get complicated and his spouse Jane gets frustrated for not being able to concentrate on her work.  Listening to the advice of her mother, Jane meets a  kind and handsome choir director (Charlie Cox), who spends his time with Stephen and his children. Not only he spends his time but also helps him.

Likewise, the performance of  Mr. Eddie, who has also been  nominated for Oscars in best actor category is mind blowing, His acting is commendable and expressive, giving the exact glimpse of the Stephen mischievous droll as well as his intelligence mind. Jones with her emotional  expression has enhanced the glory of the film.

However, some scenes are overdramatic. For instance, when Mr. Eddie puts on his sweater he gets stucked and  imagines a black hole by watching a flames of fire burning which is  beyond an imagination flashing through his eyes.  The conviction of Mr.Eddie in God is shaky and while bringing out this story, there is a lot of dramatization in the movie without any logical debate over it.

Prior to this, Stephen Hawking’s  “A brief History of time”  is a masterpiece which explains  a range of subjects in cosmology, including big bang, black holes and light cones to the nonspecialist reader.

Besides Redmayne and Jones work in Theory of Everything, Charlie Cox(Broadwalk Empire) performance  as Jonathan Jones, a widower who forms his bond with both Stephen and Jane is appreciable. He is an emotional guy longing for love. There is also a visible love affair between Jand and Stephen. In the  film supporting actors include – David thewis (Harry potter), Emily Watson (War Horse) and Adam godley (Charlie and the chocolate factory).  And their performance is average.

Summing up, the movie is an interesting tale of universe and cosmology. The narrative of love among friends and family makes movie apt for all types of audience.  The protagonist’s struggle with the disease is portrayed in a very convincing manner.  Perhaps, the movie would have been better if there was more focus  on turning points of Stephen’s and Janes lives.

The movie has been  nominated for 5 Academy awards.  Eddie Redmayne may win  his first oscar through his outstanding performance.
