18 Nov, Kathmandu: Police on Friday arrested three literary figures including Vice-President of Progressive Writers’ Association Khem Thapaliya.
Police took control Thapaliya from Bagbazaar on Friday evening while he was returning from Association’s Monthly Dialogue Programme. He has been kept at Metropolitan Police Range Teku.
Issuing a statement, Association Chairperson Matrika Pokharel and general secretary RM Dangol have demanded the administration immediately release them noting that it was against freedom of expression to detain writers without any reason.
Thapaliya is also the editor of monthly magazine, ‘Hamro Jaljala’.
Literary figures Bairagi Jetha and Achyut Tiwai who were detained with Thapaliya were released later on the presence of Association general secretary Dangol and ANNISU (R) general secretary Uttam Adhikari. RSS
