Man-arrestedParsa, Oct. 23: Parsa police have arrested two persons as they were about to smuggle one kilogram of gold towards India.

Police also recovered Rs. 2.1 million in cash from Raj Kumar Daruka of Birgunj-6 and Harendra Yadav of Ward no-19 as they were intercepted at Chapkaiya of Birgunj municipality on Wednesday morning.

The two have been taken into custody for further investigation and necessary action, said SP of Birgunj Sarbendra Khanal.

The accused were made public along with the confiscated gold and cash at a press conference held here today. According to police, this was the second time that Daruka was arrested with gold meant for smuggling to India. Prior to this, he was arrested with four kilograms of gold.

Meanwhile, a police patrol confiscated goods worth Rs. one million smuggled into the country. The goods were found concealed inside a truck (Na.2Kha. 2582) impounded from Pathlaiya on the Birgjung-Pathlaiya road, police said.
