21 May, Ratnanagar (Chitwan): CPN-UML won mayor in two municipalities (Rapti and Kalika) in Chitwan. UML’s Prabha Baral secured 11,613 votes to claim mayor post in Rapti municipality while her closest contender Nepali Congress’s Kiran Bhushan Oli got 7,292 votes.

Likewise, UML’s Iman Singh Lama won deputy mayor in Rapti Municipality with 11,882 votes. His nearest competitor NC’s Anita Mainali garnered 7,074 votes. Out of the total 13 municipal wards, UML secured a win for ward chairperson in 11 while NC in two.

Similarly, UML’s Khum Narayan Shrestha claimed mayor in Kalika Municipality with 7,492 votes while his closest contender NC’s Kamal Acharya secured 7,164 votes.

For deputy mayor, UML’s Kamala Bhattarai got 7,535 votes to claim the post. Her nearest competitor NC’s Niruja Shrestha garnered 6,720 votes.

Of the total 11 wards in the municipality, NC won chairperson in ward 1, 4, 5, 9 and 10 while UML emerged victorious in ward 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 11. RSS
