6 July, Surunga (Jhapa): The CPN (UML) candidates to the post of mayor and deputy mayor have been elected in the local level election in Birtamod Municipality in the district.
The UML candidate Dhruba Kumar Siwakoti has been elected as the mayor receiving 9,110 while his closed rival from Nepali Congress Jal Kumar Gurung got 8,217 votes.
Similarly, UML’s Pabitra Mahatara Prasain has been elected to the post of the deputy mayor receiving 10,437 votes, while her nearest rival from NC’s Parbata Giri got 9,011 votes. RSS
