Chitwan has witnessed blood crisis with the onset of monsoon. According to the Regional Blood Transmission Centre, Bharatpur, the crisis has appeared in the centre since past 15 days.

Centre Chief Ramesh Kanta Poudel said the crisis of blood was emerged with the rise in temperature, start of monsoon and busy schedule of blood donors’ in paddy plantation.

Though the demand for blood in Chitwan is around 150 unit per day it has not been met, he said. In this season, there is huge demand for blood with growing flow of patients in the hospital but the blood donation events to address the crisis are meager.

The Office has urged social organizations to hold blood donation programme to address blood deficit in the district.

The Bharatpur-based BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital requires high demand of blood for surgical cases while the demand is also increasing in other government and private hospitals due to rise in surgical cases of late. RSS
