Tanahun: A seventy-four-year old man in Tanahun has cultivated herbs in a commercial way in some 60 ropanis of land. KB Gurung, a resident of Benipatan, Vyas Municipality Ward No. 7 has been planting the precious herbs such as Sarpagandha, Ashwagandha, Bojho, Kalihari, Latakasturi, Ghiu Kumari, Red Sandalwood, and White Sandalwood, among others, in a commercial way.

He also provides the herbal treatment service to the patients of high blood pressure, gastritis, ulcer, and diabetes, among others, by charging Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 per head.

He has planted Gurjo in one ropani of land by bringing it from Malaysia that is useful for multiple diseases. Gurung earns around  Rs 100,000 by selling the herbs annually. “I have been planting to run an herbal industry in the near future and that I have been making preparations for the same, he added. Gurung has shown a good example that if there is skill, no youths need to go abroad in search of employment opportunities
