3 Nov, Beijing: China’s copyright administrators have shut down 1,655 websites for violating copyright laws and deleted 274,800 links, the National Copyright Administration said Thursday.

A total of 1.51 million items were confiscated and 314 cases filed, according to the administration.

The campaign started in July 25 this year by the administration, and the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Public Security.

The public were encouraged to take part in the campaign and build a better online environment for copyright, said the administration. Xinhua
