5 May, Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, said that special security would be provided to foreign investment in Nepal.
Addressing a conference related to Nepal’s tourism, trade and investment organsied in Singapore on Thursday evening, Foreign Minister Mahat urged foreign investors to invest in Nepal.
On the occasion, he clarified that there was immense possibility to invest in many areas of Nepal including hydropower, infrastructure development, tourism, agriculture and information technology.
The Foreign Minister said that environment conducive for foreign investment has been created in Nepal as the country has been moving ahead towards the path of peace, stability and development.
He said, “We are aware about how can the foreign investment be attracted and secured. We have formulated laws and rules to make foreign investment smooth and secured.”
Presenting the reality that Nepal remains behind in lack of technology despite having immense natural resources and possibilities, Foreign Minister Mahat opined that Nepal and the investors would be benefitted if the environment conducive for investment was created for the promotion of investment in Nepal and was appropriately utilized.
Various personalities from the business, economic and diplomatic sectors and professors of different universities of Singapore were present on the occasion.
Foreign Minister Mahat had left here for Singapore on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Minister Mahat has reached New Delhi this morning. Foreign Minister reached there to inaugurate conference of non-resident ambassadors of different countries for Nepal at New Delhi, said Minister Mahat’s Press Coordinator, Yek Raj Pathak. The conference is taking place this evening.
Similarly, a bilateral meeting between Minister Mahat and External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj, has been scheduled this afternoon. Minister Mahat and Minister Swaraj would jointly inaugurate the two-day conference. RSS
