24 Sept, Chautara: The Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee has stated that it will be able to supply drinking water to the consumers in the Kathmandu Valley within six months.

As the digging of tunnel for supply of the water remains for 1.7 kilo metres of length, it is expected that the work would be completed in six months, according to the Committee.

Furthermore, Committee’s Deputy Executive Director Ramakanta Duwadi said that some 16 metres of tunnel have been dug in a daily basis from four different places.

The tunnel digging for altogether 27.5 metres from Ambathan Muhan of Helambu to Sundarijal is expected to finish by December, shared Duwadi, adding that around 94 per cent of the work relating to tunnel digging has been completed so far.

Likewise, work on preparing the detailed project report of Larke and Yangri projects at Panchpokhari Thangpal rural municipality in Sindhuplachok district would be completed within the next four months.

The Kathmandu Valley gets as much as 170 million litres of water on a daily basis from the Melamchi River of Sindhupalchowk district. RSS
