The agitators in Mahottari, who had been demonstrating violently since today morning in various places, have torched the police beat at Zero Mile at Jaleshwar, the district headquarters of Mahottari.
Some 50 demonstrators set ablaze the Nepal Police’s police beat at Jaleshwar ward no 4. They sprinkled petrol over the beat made up of wood and zinc corrugated sheet, according to Saurav Rana, Superintendent of Police (SP).
The beat was gutted by the fire and no police personnel were reported hurt in the incident, added SP Rana.
Prior to this, the agitators had pelted stones at the police personnel.
Tension runs high in the district as various Madesh-centric political parties have been waging agitation in protest of state delineation.
