baby snatchedJohannesburg: A 2-month-old baby boy was kidnapped by a woman who had promised the child’s mother a job in Johannesburg, it was reported on Friday.

Police spokesperson Xoli Mbele said a case of a missing child was being investigated after Prince Muyambo was taken from his mother by the bogus employer nearly three weeks ago, The Star reported.

According to the report, the Zimbabwean mother of two, Victoria Muyambo, was begging in the Pretoria CBD when she was approached by a woman offering her a job as a domestic worker.

Delighted at the offer, Muyambo boarded a train with the woman headed for Tembisa in Ekurhuleni, where the woman apparently stayed.

“She asked to carry him [Prince] moments after we took off from Pretoria,” said Muyambo.

When they were at the Noord Street taxi rank in the Johannesburg CBD, the woman suggested they buy a few items for the baby.

While in the supermarket, the woman – who was still holding Prince – disappeared.

“Her disappearance was so quick inside the shop when I took the bags to the parcel counter. She quickly used the exit door to run away.”

Muyambo said the woman was short and dark in complexion.
