6 Feb, Kathmandu: Sumith Nakandala, the Secretary General of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ this evening at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar. Prime Minister Dahal is also the chair of the BIMSTEC.

During the meeting, the duo held talks on BIMSTEC Summit preparations and the agendas to be discussed in the Summit, PM’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Rishiraj Adhikari said.

On the occasion, the Secretary General had inquired about development of Buddhism in Nepal and infrastructure development in economic sector, Adhikari shared.

In response, the Prime Minister expressed his commitment to take his best efforts for the implementation of the agendas of the Goa Summit. It is said that PM Dahal told Sumith that the fourth BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Nepal would discuss on the agendas of connectivity, energy and economic development.

According to the PM’s Personal Secretariat, Nepal as the chair of the BIMSTEC was seriously working for hosting the upcoming summit.
