22 Sept, Kathmandu: Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said with the election of the local levels, the authority exercised by the Singh Durbar would reach people’s level.

During a programme organized by Nepal Cultural Artists’ Association on the occasion of the coming festivals here Thursday, Minister Basnet argued that the constitution promulgated through the Constituent Assembly has empowered people. After the central authority is devolved to the local levels, people’s access to administrative service would be ensured, he added.

According to him, compulsory participation of local people in developments with the practice of transparency and accountability helps pave a way for economic prosperity in the country.

Association’s Chairman DB Gurung, former Chairman of Nepal Film Development Board, and others said the cultures practiced in different communities have boosted the national unity. Even the artists could be aware of maintaining social harmony.
