Kathmandu: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reached the residence of CPN-UML leader Ram Chandra Jha at Kadamchowk, in Janakpur-2 who had resigned as a politburo member of the party on Thursday.
Dahal reached Jha’s residence at around 11 this morning with party leaders Haribol Gajurel, Ram Kumar Sharma and Ram Kumar Yadav and discussed Jha’s entry to his party.
It has been reported that Jha decided to join the UCPN (M) formally only after finalising his position in the party.
Jha tendered his resignation from his Janakpur home via fax on Thursday.
Jha’s resignation is understood to be a major blow to the UML.
Former Janakpur zonal in-charge and elected Constituent Assembly member, Jha is believed to have strong hold in some Madhesi constituencies. When UML had lost seats in many Tarai districts in the 2008 CA elections, Jha played an important role to secure six seats from Janakpur zone under his leadership.
Jha decided to quit the party expressing dissatisfaction over the responsibility given to him.
