PARIS: Visitors to the Eiffel Tower have been evacuated after an anonymous phone call Saturday night announcing an attack.
More than 1,400 people were evacuated and a security perimeter has been set up around the tower.
The call came from the Paris suburbs and threatened an attack at 9:30 pm (2030 GMT). The anti-terrorism unit is now investigating.
Bomb alerts targeting monuments and public places happen frequently in the French capital, but the frech police usually takes these threats very seriously.
