10 May, Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa has stressed that the NC should win in the upcoming local level elections for the implementation of Constitution.

At a press meet organized by NC Publicity Sub-Committee at the office of Nepal Press Union here on Wednesday, youth leader Thapa argued that the NC should emerge victorious as it has the prime responsibility for implementing the national charter.

Noting that the incumbent ruling coalition was formed for the statute implementation and institutional development of democracy, he said, “The election alliance was made with ruling partners in some of the places to make the local polls success”.

Sharing that the new government would be formed under NC leadership on May third week as agreed by the ruling partners, he said the new government would hold the provincial and federal level\s elections within the given time.

He asserted that there would be competition between extremists and moderate forces in the local level elections. NC candidates should win to overcome extremists who are trying to weaken the country in the name of ethnicity and religion.

He further said the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has agreed to participate in the first phase of civic polls under the aegis of NC and expressed his confidence that the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal would be brought on board in second phase elections by amending the Constitution on May third week.

He expressed serious concern on behalf of the party over the incidents of attacks on NC candidates during poll publicity campaigns.

Claiming that there has been big excitement and participation of people towards NC, leader Thapa said, “The local government equipped with resources would be formed after the election”. RSS
