KATHMANDU: Leaders of different political parties have said that Nepal Army can be mobilised for the Constituent Assembly polls slated for November 19 if the government wants and needs. They also pointed out that there was less possibility to reach agreement with the agitating 33-parties led by CPN-Maoist.

The leaders insisted on holding CA election on the slated date, and they said the poll date cannot be deferred at any cost.

CPM-UML Secretary Shanker Pokhrel saw no hurdle in mobilising the army in the Constituent Assembly election as the army integration process has already concluded. Speaking at an interaction at Reporters’ Club on Tuesday, leader Pokhrel said, “The Comprehensive Peace Accord did not allow to mobilise in the past.”

Nepali Congress leader Dr. Minendra Rijal claimed that no one could obstruct the upcoming polls for people are eagerly waiting for the second CA. “The government is capable of ensuring security during the polls,” he said.

Rameshwor Raya Yadav, Vice Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic,  said that the government should deploy army along with all others security agencies, if necessary, to maintain order during polls.

The Madhesi leader said that an agreement with the CPN-Maoist could not be reached, as according to him, the five-point proposal apropos to the round table conference was floated with aim to stop upcoming polls.
