25 May, Lahan: With the second phase of local elections coming near, the political parties’ leaders and cadres in Siraha have started wooing voters in villages.

Election fever has gripped the villages when the parties’ leader and candidates have reached out to the doorsteps of voters in view of June 14 local polls.

Major political parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) have intensified their election publicity campaigns.

In course of polls publicity campaign, Nepali Congress Siraha on Wednesday had taken out motorcycle rally in Lahan municipality areas. The motorcycle rally had marched around all 24 wards of the municipality.

NC Siraha President and parliamentarian Ram Chandra Yadav shared that the party is carrying out its necessary preparation for the selection of candidates for municipality and rural municipality, imparting training to frontline cadres and intensifying polls campaign in the district.
Likewise, the CPN-UML Siraha also concluded its election programme in Lahan municipality-19, Sonamati Majhaura.
CPN (MC) has also accomplished its village level meetings at Golbazaar municipality-8, Labtoli Jagatpur.

Importantly, the Madhes-based political parties which had warned to boycott civic polls until constitution amendment have also advanced their poll-focused campaigns. The Federal Socialist Forum which has been focused on its internal preparation are busy welcoming new entrants from other parties.

Similarly, the Rastriya Janata Party is also internally making its list of potential candidates for municipalities and rural municipalities.

There are seven municipalities and 10 rural municipalities in Siraha from where 824 people representatives including 316 women from 158 wards will be elected from civic polls.

Some 32 political parties have been registered with Election Office in Siraha. RSS
