prachandKathmandu: UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday threw his weight behind his murder-convicted deputy Bal Krishna Dhungel, insisting that he is clean, and refuting his murder convict status.

Amidst deafening demands by human rights activists to put him behind bars as per the Supreme Court’s order to do so, the Maoist head, also a former prime minister issuing a press communiqué charged the agitating human rights activists of going against the peace process in the name of human rights and civil movement.

The Maoist chief was referring to the campaigners of the Occupy Baluwatar, a campaign which is protesting Violence Against Women (VAW) and other human rights related cases demanding action against the masterminds of the various criminal acts.

In the statement, Dahal has stressed on the need to decide on the incidents through Truth and Reconciliation Commission as they were war-era cases, dubbing the street protest to book Dhungel into custody a mere “street dance.”

The Maoist Supremo also said that his party has drawn concern over the “anti-peace” activities being accelerated of late, and also urged all not to engage themselves in such activities.
