2 Dec, Kathmandu: The Ministry of Urban Development has stated that reconstruction of 15 thousand 861 houses damaged by the earthquake has been started after receiving the grant amount for the same.

According to the Central Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry, reconstruction of 1, 623 houses in Sindhupalchok, two thousand 165 houses in Dhading, 1004 houses in Kavre, 4330 in Nuwakot, 1271 in Gorkha, 2890 houses in Dolakha, 851 houses in Ramechhap, 126 houses in Sindhuli, 612 houses in Makwanpur, 473 houses in Okhaldhunga and 516 houses in Rasuwa has started as of November 30. Reconstruction of houses has started in 11 of the 14 hardest hot districts.

The Unit said that agreement on providing the grant for house reconstruction has been reached with 527 thousand 466 house-owners. Similarly, such agreements have been reached with 53 thousand 425 house-owners in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

It is stated that an amount of Rs 50 thousand each has been deposited in the bank accounts of 444 thousand 452 house-owners as first installment in the 11 districts out of the Kathmandu Valley.

Among the 108 thousand 77 complaints registered with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) central office, 83 thousand 710 have been entered into the management information system.

Similarly, out of the complaints entered in the MIS, 54 thousand 336 have been classified after verification, the NRA spokesman Ram Prasad Thapaliya said. RSS
