Kathmandu, Feb 26:  At a time when the government’s passivity in punishing the culprits of heinous crime against women is being criticized in the country, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that violence and crime against women are unbearable.

Meeting a delegation led by the Unified Maoist leader Shashi Shrestha at his official residence Baluwatar today, PM Koirala added  that the government is seriously looking into in such cases and crimes and they were deplorable.

Demanding strong action against the culprits involved in throwing acid on girls recently in the capital, the team asked the government to take concrete steps in this direction without further delay.

Responding to their demands, PM Koirala assured the team that the culprits would be punished accordingly very soon. He also told them not to have any doubts in his government’s commitment for fighting injustices against women.
Likewise,  Minister for Law and Justice Narhari Acharya who was also present at the meeting said that the Ministry was preparing to increase the severity of the penalty to the offenders of heinous crimes like incest.

He added that women are exploited at their own home and this type of violence is on the rise. So, to reduce this problem, strict laws are being mulled over according to him.  (With Inputs From RSS)
