28 July, Biratnagar: Acting Chairman of CPN-UML and Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam has said that the 26 nominated seats to the Constituent Assembly would be carried out within a week.

The government has not appointed 26 lawmakers from civil society, intellectuals, marginalized communities and backward groups even after the eight months of the Constituent Assembly polls.

The decision to appoint the 26 lawmakers will be taken after the arrival of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Currently, Oli is in Singapore for medical treatment.

The seven-point agreement reached with the Nepali Congress would be enforced and the President and the Vice-president would be endorsed before the new constitution is promulgated, Gautam said talking to media at Biratnagar airport this morning.

Stating that the promotion to additional inspector general of police or AIGP had been stalled due to court-related procedures, Mr Gautam, who also holds the Home Ministry portfolio, said the matter would be resolved soon as per Nepal Police regulations.
