10 May, Kathmandu: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Wu Chuntai, called on Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday evening.

During the meeting, matters relating to the damaged caused by the April 25 quake, ongoing rescue and relief operations were discussed.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Koirala said that the country faced an unimaginable scale of disaster that led to massive loss of lives and property.

Chinese Ambassador Wu

Chinese Ambassador Wu appreciated the rescue and relief task carried out by Nepal with the support from its neighbouring countries in the disaster, saying natural disaster can take place anywhere. He also expressed happiness for the opportunity to support the rescue and relief task at the request of the government of Nepal.

The Chinese Ambassador familiarized Prime Minister Koirala about the rescue operation carried out by the Chinese team.
Similarly, Ambassador Wu shared that the 48 kilometres road along the Araniko Highway, obstructed due to the quake, was opened for traffic by China.

Stating that the government of China was ready for additional support as per the need, he said China has also been providing relief materials to the quake victims.

PM Koirala, on the behalf of his own and government of Nepal, thanked the government of China for its support in the hour of crisis. RSS
