Bhimduttanagar,Feb 22 : CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal hinted at the possibility of promulgating a new constitution on May 29 of this year.
At an interaction program with his party cadres in Mahendranagar today, he said that it would be the best date to give a new constitution to Nepal as it coincides with the Republic Day.
He added that the political parties have reached consensus on various issues of constitution and now the process shouldn’t be prolonged.
Accusing UCPN (Maoist) for the postponement of the date for promulgation of a new constitution, Mr. Nepal said that the party was not found trustworthy while implementing the agreements.
He reminded that Maoist Chairman Prachanda has betrayed other political forces including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML time and again.
Meanwhile, he urged Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take the responsibility of drafting the new constitution instead of launching protests.
On a different note regarding the security concern of Chairman Prachanda, he said that he has talked with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam about the matter and asked them to make proper arrangements. (With Inputs From RSS)
