4 March, Kathmandu:

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has pledged his best to address the genuine demands of the Far Western University (FWU).

During his meeting with a delegation comprising chiefs of University constituent campuses and chairs of Campus Management Committees at his private residence, Lazimpat, on Friday, Chairman Dahal assured them of taking up the matter to the government partners and do his best to create atmosphere conducive for operating the University smoothly.

Campus Chiefs and chairs of management committees apprised leader Dahal of internal hurdles surfaced in running the University. He was urged to help get quotas for 444 staffs for its total 15 constituent campuses endorsed from the Ministry of Finance and ensure budget allocation, according to Dahal’s press coordinator Surya Kiran Sharma.

It may be noted that it has been already agreed to convert all 15 FWU-affiliated community campuses in nine districts in the far-west into the constituent campuses where 80 per cent students of the region are pursuing university education.

The Education Ministry and the University Grant Commission have already approved required quotas for the campuses. But the Ministry of Finance is yet to take a decision on the matters.
