Defence Minister Bal Krishna Khand on Friday said the government was trying to bring disgruntled groups to consensus to enable environment for holding three levels of elections on time.
He said the government was preparing to amend the constitution to that end.
Minister Khand was speaking at a gathering of NC cadres organised by Rupandehi NC Constituency-7.
Informing that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba was engaging in talks with disgruntled political parties including Madhes-based parties in the capacity of president of the biggest party in Parliament, Minister Khand said the constitution would be amended on consensus among political parties including main opposition CPN-UML.
On the occasion, he also directed local party cadres to prepare for local body elections.
