Kathmandu, Feb 22:   Five MW of electricity has been added to the central transmission line of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) from Saturday according to sources.

With the beginning of  the test production of the Upper Hugdi Hydro Power Project which has the capacity of producing five megawatts of energy, the current increment has been seen. This project is a pioneer one  under the  public-private partnership (PPP) in the country.

In order to help resolve the energy crisis in the country,  the test production started four months before the schedule said the promoters.

With an investment of Rs 770 million the project was developed informed  Paritosh Poudel, Secretary at  the project company.

 

 

As per the power trade agreement reached between the Project and the NEA, the company will charge Rs 7.50 per unit in the dry season and Rs 4.50 per unit during monsoon. The electricity will be provided to the NEA free of cost for the first 15 days after production.

Meanwhile, issuance of shares to the local and the public is also in the pipelines.

Ruru Hydro Power Project  is primarily responsible for the development of the project. Moreover, the project has the highest number of investors till date  i.e. 862 investors. The Power House is stationed at  at Khasimara of Rupakot in Gulmi.

The electricity produced from the project has been linked to the NEA´s substation at Birbas of Gulmi through a 12 km long transmission line.
