Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Top Bahadur Rayamahji, has said the government was adopting all possible measures to end the energy crisis in the country.
DPM Rayamahji said the government was working with plans to complete the under-construction projects at the earliest and claimed of fundamentally reducing power outage within the next year.
“The works of resolving the energy crisis is moving ahead in pace as per the master plan,” DPM Rayamahji said while speaking at an interaction held at Reporters’ Club in the capital city today.
He added, “In the coming year we will face no more than 5 to 6 hours of load shedding in a day.”
The Minister further claimed that the construction works of Budhigandaki, Naumure, Nalsinghgadh, Upper Arun and Sunkoshi among other hydro power projects will move forward soon.
He said the 600 megawatt of electricity to be imported from India was seeing delay for lack of substations in Dalkebar and other areas. The works for constructing substations and transmission lines is also underway, according to him.
On a different note, the DPM said the incumbent government will let go of the rein only after holding local and parliamentary elections. He urged main opposition party – Nepali Congress and Madhes-centric parties to join the current government to implement the new constitution.
