Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his India visit has been completely successful.

At a special news conference organised here on Saturday, Prime Minister Dahal said that a new era of bilateral relations between Nepal and India has begun and it would have a long-term importance.

The Prime Minister mentioned that he held discussion with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi openly on matters of mutual interests and concerns. “I held open discussions with the Indian PM. I am fully satisfied from the visit. It has taken Nepal-India relations to a new height. I am confident that this visit would yield fruitful results.”

He said that the constitution amendment process would be forwarded with understanding of the parties expressing their dissatisfaction over the new constitution.

Prime Minister Dahal further said that the process for the implementation of the new constitution has been moving ahead in a smooth manner. He said, “I and my government have been active to resolve the internal issues of the country domestically.”

Stating that India has put the overall issues of Nepal in priority and has given special attention on mutual interests and concerns, PM Dahal said that works related to common interests and welfare would be carried out together.

He said that the incumbent government was committed to take the country towards the path of economic prosperity along with constitution implementation, saying the Indian government was ready to support in hydropower, physical infrastructure and tourism sectors of Nepal.

Stating that the Indian government has agreed to speed up with the Pancheswar Multi-purpose Hydel project and the transborder transmission line, Prime Minister Dahal said significant agreement and understanding were also reached on matters relating to the postal road and border security.

He also made it clear that the development of projects relating to energy, rail transport and road network would gain speed, as the Indian side has agreed to accelerate the under-construction projects.

The Prime Minister shared that important deliberations were held and views exchanged during his meetings with Indian Prime Minister Modi, Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, industrialists and media persons.

Also present at the press meet were Foreign Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak, Chief political advisor to the PM, Chakrapani Khanal and Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi.

Prime Minister Dahal is returning home on Sunday after completing his four-day state visit. He had arrived here leading the Nepali delegation on September 15. RSS
