Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bijaya Kumar Gachchadar has said that the Galchi-Trisuli-Syafrubesi_Rasuwagadhi road would be developed into a double lane road within two years in order to expedite Nepal-China trade.

Deputy Prime Minister Gachchadar, who was here to make an on-site inspection of the present state of the Rasuwagadhi transit point and road construction work in the area, said the Nepali Army would be mobilized to build 28 kilometers of new road in the areas covered by stiff rock in Betrawati, Mailung, Haku and Syafrubesi.

Talking to RSS before flying back to Kathmandu on a Nepal Army helicopter, DPM Gachchadar said that the government has accorded top priority to the expansion of the road leading to Rasuwagadhi transit point. He, however, said that supplies from China alone would not suffice the need of fuel in the country, and hence diplomatic measures would be taken to resolve the current problem with India.

Likewise, Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel said sufficient budget would be allocated for construction of international trade route from Galchi to Rasuwagadhi. Necessary procedures would soon begun to upgrade the road and built new sections where necessary, he added.

Also part of the team that inspected possible location of dry port in Timure and Customs and Immigration Office were MP Janardan Dhakal, Finance Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi, Director General of Department of Roads Madhav Jung Karki, Director General of Department of National Parks Fanindra Kharel among others.
