Kailali (Attariya), Nov. 29: The microfinance programme run by the Kisan Multipurpose Cooperatives Limited has paid off in raising the living standards of women and the marginalized communities in the area.

The programme has become effective after the cooperatives started providing collateral-free loans to borrowers.

Most of the beneficiaries of the programme are underprivileged women. They have been able to make a living by starting agriculture business or low-cost enterprises, said Pārbati Saud, Chief of the Microfinance Programme.

The programme was started six years back in Kailali and so far it has benefited over 15 thousand women. It is currently implemented in Tikapur Municipality area and 29 VDCs in Kailali district.
